Online blurb:
She may be aloof, and more pretty than gorgeous, but Alani Rivers is the kind of woman a hot-blooded mercenary can’t forget, no matter how hard he tries. So when Jackson Savor wakes up next to the naked, sleeping beauty—with no memory of what happened—he knows he’s been drugged… even if Alani doesn’t.

After she was kidnapped, Alani swore she’d never trust another man again. Still, something about this strong, sexy hero with the tender touch makes her want to believe him. As Jackson hunts downs a mysterious intruder, he swears he’ll move heaven and earth to keep Alani safe. But what really happened that night? And will the truth bring them closer than they ever thought possible—or put Alani squarely in harm’s way again? (from author’s website)

My opinion:
Jackson Savor has lusted after Trace’s sister Alani since he first met her but he didn’t want to press her too heavily as she recovered from being kidnapped by human traffickers. Plus the little fact that his fellow mercenary, Trace, treat his sister like spun glass and would probably kill him for just the thoughts he’d had. But when he wakes up with Alani in bed beside him, both of them naked, he can’t get over the fact that his dreams may have come true — if only he could remember them and wasn’t sick as a dog. Puking in front of Alani, after what seemed like a great night of sex, wasn’t the best morning after.

Always leary of men after her kidnapping and imprisonment, Alani had just ditched her last boyfriend when he pressed her to have sex with him. But she’s always had a soft-spot — and weak knees — for Jackson. Despite the fact he was just as dangerous as her brother and his partner, Dare, Alani wasn’t afraid of him. She was only afraid of what he made her want. Forced to confront not only her pain that Jackson didn’t remember their night together but also the idea she may again be a target for kidnapping or even murder, Alani finally agrees to let Jackson stay with her to ensure her safety.

The more time Alani and Jackson spend together, the more they discover the depths in each other and the closer they grow. Now if they can only put together the puzzle pieces and find out who wants Alani amidst an ever-increasing list of possibilities who spring from their individual pasts.

This book is the third in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series from Lori Foster and I liked it as much as I did the other two, if not a bit more. I really like Jackson Savor as the hero – he’s both very alpha and has a very protective and soft side. This doesn’t, however, stop him from treating Alani with a mix of care, humor and honesty. He realizes that she’s dead set on knowing the dangers and the reasons he’s making decisions but trusts him to make the decisions. He was blunt but amusing, crass but sexy and just plain hot.

Alani was an interesting character as well. Despite her kidnapping, she was struggling to make sure she had a life of her own choosing instead of allowing Dare and her brother, Trace, to pack her away in a safe box. She’s well aware of the profession of the three series heroes but tries not to let it rule her everyday life. That said, she does have hangups about men and sex and I actually like the fact she’s very afraid at multiple times in the book and it shows but it doesn’t stop her from trying to do the right or smart thing. She’s not superwoman but she is strong. I really liked that!

I really enjoyed the secret character from Jackson’s past that emerges in this book and the person following her who ends up involved in the climax of Savor the Danger. I’m hoping they will appear in another story from Ms. Foster.

Savor the Danger was a fast-paced, action-packed but hot, sexy romance. Ms. Foster has packed it with fantastic characters that are both strong and vulnerable and even sarcastic but loving. I liked that the plot took twists I didn’t anticipate and even when I guessed what might be going on, I wasn’t sure. I had to keep reading. I must admit, as a dedicated animal lover, I also loved the fact this entire series had animal characters as well and the interaction of those animals with humans gave us insight into the softer hearts in these alpha heroes.
