It Happened One Wedding was an enjoyable read with a strong heroine and a sexy hero. I liked the heroine’s sass and bit of snark and really enjoyed some of the hero’s mental dialogue and his almost hurt feelings when the other main characters tried to hide the secret from him. The characters are lively and likeable. I did wish for the suspense angle from prior books in the series, though.
I was soon caught up in the uneasy relationship between the mages and the kin, with the humans as (mostly) unaware bystanders. Ms. Jewel has created a fascinating magical world where nothing is quite what it seems and there are no clear victors…. I really want to see more of this world and the characters I’ve caught glimpses of so far. I’m hoping this is not the last book in this series, though, because there are other characters in the wings I’d love to hear more about.
I’ve been a fan of Ms. Leigh’s Breed series from the very beginning and it’s been interesting to see the world change and grow as the series has been playing out. I’ve especially been looking forward to this story because I really wanted to see Navarro lose it over a woman. That much self-control just begs for a total crash. For the most part, my anticipation was fulfilled. Novarro and Mica are both interesting characters and the lust and emotions run hot and heavy between them. I especially enjoyed the awakening Navarro has in the latter part of the story.
The story of Samantha finding her place (as well as her mate) in this wolf shifter town is a warm, satisfying read that will not disappoint. I loved the tidbits of bonding and acceptance that were sprinkled throughout Arctic Winds. 3.5 Stars. Published by Lyrical Press 1/12/2011.
